State of the saiga population in the "Black Lands" Reserve: problems and prospects for its conservation
Data on the abundance and spatial distribution of saigas in the Northwest Caspian region in the period 1998-2014 have been published and discussed several times. In this work, for the first time, we present data on the number and spatial distribution of saigas in the territory of the Chernye Zemli state reserve, its buffer zone and the territory of the Mekletinsky reserve of federal significance for the period from 2014 to 2019. This paper also provides information on the priority measures, the implementation of which, according to the authors, is necessary to restore the saiga population in the region.
